Lol. Another depressing Fediverse "update" on Threads has Fediverse users cornered off like the evil stepchild and still can't reply.
Feeling like the dream of true cross communication on Fediverse is dead more and more every second.
Fediverse will never be fully cross platform with these billion dollar corporations.
They're too scared of losing their users.

not what I was hoping for but not all bad.

ok being able to search out and then follow most fedi accounts from #threads is not bad. then you can set your FEEDS tab to FEDIVERSE and only see that stuff. and you can set that tab as an additional "always visible" tab. works w bridged #bluesky accounts too. fedi users still need to be fully integrated over there but this is better than I initially thought. we'll see what else I discover... ADD: only the fedi OP is really visible and you can only like it...not reply, boost or share it :(

@BeAware Remember when people in mastodon were afraid of threads? "Embrace, extend, and extinguish". Turns out mastodon is the one doing the extinguishing.

@wjmaggos yeah...should be put into the same feed so they're mixed in. It's stupid.

Still doesn't give me hope that they'll actually finish the feature. Quite the opposite actually. This makes me feel like they're just adding stuff that nobody asked for so that they can eventually say "seems like nobody wants Fediverse so we're discontinuing it".

@Sibshops I haven't been keeping up, what did Mastodon do now?

possibly. to me the key has always been about creators, especially journalists. that's what drove early Twitter.
we need to make them want to live on their own website that's also a fedi server, no longer reliant on any corporate platform. have articles, videos and podcast episodes be natively #ActivityPub items. this keeps the door open for that and both #ghost and #wordpress are making progress in this direction. but we really need both #threads and #bluesky to federate by default.

@BeAware I was actually just referring to your post about how threads is not embracing the fediverse.

@Sibshops oh...yeah. it's mostly just Threads and BlueSky doing the extinguishing by being a complete pain in the ass.
One of the reasons I barely post here anymore is cause my current interests aren't discussed here. So if they would just federated like decent people, I'd be able to be here and discuss those interests across the network.
However...
