Always viewed Hermione as J.K. Rowling's self-insert character.
That's really the only way that everything that she does makes any sense.

Except Hermione has strong feelings toward equality and inclusion which is the opposite of Rowling. Hermione personally experienced discrimination with being not "pureblood" and pushed back against it for herself and others. She also stood up for others facing discrimination with Dobby and the house elves even though she herself didn't face that particular discrimination.
If anything Hermione is the anti-Rowling.

She's the naive little Rowling before she "learned how the world really works" or something.

Everybody remembers in Harry Potter and the Curse Child where adult Hermione says "Those filthy House Elves should be put in chains for even talking to those mudbloods without my permission! Screw them, I got mine!" /s
