A lot of people get confused about empathy. They think it means being polite or not being angry or being pleasant company. That's fucking bullshit and they should know better.
A lot of people use confusion to sow cruelty. They accuse empathy of being a weakness that stops people from doing what they are supposed to do. That's fucking bullshit and they do know better.
Empathy is a newer word for love in the sense of having humanity, of caring, of feeling the pull of another being's welfare.
It stops you from doing sadistic shit no one should do. Not only that, it's strong. It makes you do stuff for others that may cost you dearly.
Love/empathy is radical, transgressive, exploding, emboldening, world-destroying and world-building.
Empathy makes you human.
If you tell me that empathy means only saying nice things, or if you tell me that empathy is a weakness, you are telling me that you don't know anything important at all.
