The series is centered on an afterlife in which humans are sent to "the Good Place" or "the Bad Place" after death.

Honestly, a great show, watch it blind.

I highly recommend season 1, no reservations.

Season 2 is pretty strong, Season 3 dips a bit, the final season 4 is a bit all over the place... but the closing...

    :::spoiler spoilers
I enjoy how the show walks you through the moral aspects of theology and community.

While tackling ethical issues in a heaven/hell context the fundamental building blocks are not exactly analyzed, we are operating at the level of "goodness" and "badness" as commonly understood

    • Why only humans in this system?
    • Why reward or torture after existence?
    • Why don't the eternal beings have their own desires, conflicts, outside of humans?
    • In what context does the universe exist?
    • What is the point of evaluating humans at all?

The end of season 4 - Very thoughtful, made me sad and contemplative. thought provoking in making me come to terms about what I need from my life, and letting go when the time is right, and letting go of others when its right for them. I have to say, i'm still thinking about it now. Very much makes me think of Terry Pratchett and his EOL advocacy.

Great show. Really. Enjoyed everything except season 4.

Four was (as you said) all over the place. I think they had just painted themselves in a corner and couldn't find a way out.

Still, excellent show. Lots of fun.

One of the few shows I've cried at while watching the ending. Death has always frightened me and I found the way they handled it beautiful. And they avoided the usual pitfall of a lot of US series of trying to keep the show running until the quality diminishes. Four great seasons and they ended on a high.

Yeah, If season 4 was just the first episode and the last episode it would have been perfect!

It really is exceptional, and actually makes peace with the concept of not existing anymore. Must watch TV if only to setup the final episode.

Oh no. I loved season 4. The talks, the getting a handle on the metaphysical post death reality. Vicky finally getting to be the director she always wanted to be. The love story between Michael and Shawn. No I loved season 4, the only note I had was I could have used one more episode explaining/exploring how fucked up the endless ‘happiness’ of the good place was. I mean they could have easily done a whole B-plot of Jason and monkeys riding go-karts.

Where did the good place architects go when they quit and ran away?
