I'd appreciate a license extension movie that was self aware. Have the characters break the fourth wall all the time. Have the character recognize the risks to losing the extension as existential, like having an entire second cast of the same characters occasionally come in and tell the first cast how they'll be out of a job if the license extension movie doesn't get completed.

The main antagonist could be a corrupt executive producer doing everything the can to stop the production and release so the license reverts back to the original license holder that is given the executive producer a kickback. The climax of the movie is the a desperate effort to get a final cut written to media. The evil executive producer steals the only DVD writer, and a cast member save the day by producing a VHS VCR allowing the primary cast to put the final cut of the movie to media, and securing the license for the license holder for another 10 years.

As in you don't want to watch them or you don't want them to exist?
