@BeAware revolt seems like the closest we have now. I especially wouldn't go to Guilded given their ownership/operation (if they're even still a thing).
Matrix is actually fairly close with text chats, especially with cinny on desktop as well. But revolt is definitely the closest UX to discord out there. -

Matrix is definitely not ready for mainstream adoption. It's like Fediverse, right? Gotta pick a server that wont just up and disappear tomorrow?
Most people don't wanna deal with that and it's not user friendly unfortunately.

It has to "just work".
