Does anyone else not receive verification SMS for banks or credit card companies when logging on to your account? I have to opt for receiving a phone call instead since SMS verification may never show up. I didn't use to have this issue with jmp.chat, but perhaps I'm also alone in this experience. I do receive SMS verifications when logging into work or Microsoft accounts, but not banking.

In order to fight fraud many banks will refuse to send texts to voip numbers. If you do a twilio lookup on a number it will tell you if it's showing as a voip number.

      • googole voice: voip
      • Googlefi : mobile

Even though both are accessible via the internet, they have different sms experiences.

That's a great point for some of the jmp.chat userbase, so I'm glad you brought it up, but my phone number was transferred from a big carrier. I have had the number for almost 20 years now. Is my phone number still be considered to be non-voip?

The only way I know to tell is to look it up on twilio. It used to be a free service, but now you have to log into use it.
